Some may have looked on the announcement last week as joyous, while for others (single women, WAG wannabe’s) it was the most devastating news!

The NZ Herald reported: Former All Blacks skipper Richie McCaw has announced his engagement to long-time girlfriend Gemma Flynn.

Breaking the news on his Facebook page tonight, McCaw revealed he had spent the new year celebrating his engagement to the Black Stick.

“Happy new year to everyone. I’ve had a fantastic start to 2016 and feel very lucky. Gemma said ‘yes’! It’s been great celebrating our engagement with friends and family in sunny central Otago. Here’s to a great year ahead.”

The post was accompanied by two photographs. One shows the Rugby World Cup-winning captain and Flynn together with an arm around each other and glasses of champagne in hand – and a big sparkler shining on the 25-year-old hockey player’s wedding finger.

Congratulations Ritchie and Gemma! If you need a Celebrant…

The Best Wedding Dances Ever!

Image by Perspectives Photo + Cinema

Looking for some ‘first dance’ inspiration? Check out these top 5 list of the best first dance routines ever.

Ah, the first dance. Aside from the ceremony (of course), this is one of those truly magical, unforgettable moments on your wedding day, and one where you’ll have the full attention of every guest. Three and a half minutes to shine. Some people go with a traditional waltz, some with a bit of a random boogie to a modern dance track, and some practice for months with their very own customised choreography.

Below we’ve compiled a list of some of the all time stand-outs – our picks of the best first dances ever.
5. This one starts off with a slow r’n’b jam before going in a totally different direction. It’s insanely long – the bride, groom and the entire wedding party must have put in months of rehearsal to pull it off!

4. A wedding dance that is truly magical. Things get really unbelievable at about 1.50.

3. A rather special wedding singer (who arrives at 1.40 if you want to skip to the good stuff!). Can you imagine if this person turned up to perform at your wedding?

2. A perfect rendition of the Dirty Dancing finale, including Johnny’s speech. The guy even has even managed to get his arms looking like Patrick Swazey’s did in the movie. The dance starts at 2.18, and then THAT lift happens at 5.30.

Drumroll please…

1. This one is from 9 years ago (sorry about the resolution), before there was any such thing as a surprise wedding dance, and at the beginning you can see some of the guests wondering what the heck is going on (which makes it that much more fun!). This couple have obviously put a huge amount of time into this and their commitment to the job only makes it that much more epic.

Top tips for a sweet summer wedding

Source: Top tips for a sweet summer wedding

With the unpredictable NZ summer – we go from one extreme to the other – sometimes four seasons in one day (as the Crowded House song goes!).

We’ve covered off what to do if it rains… now here are some top tips for summer, especially this one…

♥ Sip, Slop, Snap There’s nothing worse than being a wedding guest who’s exhausted before the bride even makes her big entrance. Keep guests comfortable by serving cool non-alcoholic drinks they can sip on, make sunscreen and insect repellent available to slop on and snap open a fan or umbrella to protect guests from the heat. Have some fun – order personalised bottled water or make your own fans inline with your theme. Plus they make great photo props!

What to do if it rains…

Every bride planning a summer wedding hopes for sunshine.

Sadly, Mother Nature is just about the one thing that a Bride just cannot control!

So, if it rains on your big day – here are a few things to make you smile again…

Remember the most important thing is not the weather – but the fact you are marrying the love of your life!

You are going to get some unique, amazing photos! Have colourful umbrellas and gumboots on hand!

Rain is actually considered lucky – it is seen as a cleansing, start of a new phase, fertility and growth!

Your Rain Day venue may turn out to be even better than your first choice. Friends of mine were planning their ceremony on a hilltop with a spectacular view, however when the gale force winds kicked in the ceremony was moved to the reception venue built over the ocean so the wild crashing waves were really atmospheric.

Your flowers won’t wilt.

You will be able to keep your cool in your big dress!

PhotoKombi ♥ Cool Retro Wedding Photo Booth

I was reminded of what an awesome idea PhotoKombi is at an event I attended on Friday.

Complete with props and speech bubbles that will have you and your guests in stitches. You sit down on a comfy booth seat (or the floor if you’re testing how many you can cram in the van for a photo opp!), pick your props, pose and the instant photos pop out for you to laugh at.

Create some unique and memorable photos of family and friends on your big day! They will even compile your photos in a cute glossy album for you.

Check them out at www.photokombi.com

What a spectacular wedding for a spectacular couple!

The Modern Family starlet and Magic Mike hunk tied the knot last weekend in Florida.

Hot Joe couldn’t be more far removed from her on-screen older Modern Family husband Al from Married with Children!!

Sofia was walked down the aisle by her 22 year old son. Sofia married his father/her first husband in Columbia when she was only 18! Check out the retro wedding photo below.

Being in love is so good for you.

Being in love is so good for you.
Often when people are newly in love, things that have been bothering them for a long time get better. Something wonderful is calling the majority of their attention, so they’re holding themselves in a better vibrational place, so the stuff they’ve been wanting all along can now zoom in.

Historic elegance

Marriage celebrant Auckland lucky in love Kimberly sanders From kiwi contemporary to historic Tudor!

Amanda and Anthony were married a few weekends ago at historic Nathan Homestead in South Auckland. Their elegant day started with the sun shining on them (after a week of rain)!

The bridal party made a grand entrance in classic cars driven up the horseshoe driveway.

The colour theme was purple, black and white with pretty lavender coloured potted flowers lining the garden courtyard where the ceremony took place.

The bride wore a striking black and purple graduated colour dress and the groom donned a traditional Maori feather cloak, a korowai. They both looked very regal.

And the sun stayed out the entire time!

This unique home just outside Matakana in coastal Tawharanui can be hired as a wedding venue.

I married a gorgeous couple today on a very atmospheric wild and windy day – the ceremony took place inside an intimate lounge room overlooking the rolling green hills down to the ocean.

Watch this space for photos from the day, coming soon.

Wedding Favours that will WOW your guests!

Giving favours at your wedding is a unique and special way to thank each guest for their presence and support. Choosing your wedding favours however, can be a challenge because there are so many awesome ideas out there… What should you include? How should you present it? What’s the difference between cool or tacky? To help you choose a wedding favour perfect for your theme here are some tips for creating a unique gift your guests will be sure to love!auckland wedding celebrant lucky in love kimberly sanders wedding favours

Something Beautiful

Pretty Packaging
Packaging is perhaps the most important aspect of the wedding favour design. Your wedding theme, colour scheme, and personal touch, can all be reflected through your favours. All the photos included in this article are lovely examples of nicely presented wedding favours.

Tags
Tags are a usual addition to any wedding favour. Some details to include might be the wedding date, the name of the couple, and a thank-you message. These tags are the perfect place to add a bit of pizazz with glitter, ink, or colourful ribbon.

Written content
While it’s not imperative that a wedding favour includes any written content, this might be a nice place to express your gratitude for the guests’ attendance, especially since you won’t get a chance to talk to everyone on the day. Little phrases such as, “Sending you ‘smore love”, or “You’re tea-rific”, are two cute examples.

Special Touch
By adding a personal touch to your wedding favours, every guest will feel included in the celebration. The favour itself could be something that is special to you as a couple, like a favourite food, song, or item.

Matchy-Matchy
It is imperative that your wedding favour fits the theme. A cute jam jar tied with twine could fit a rustic wedding, a coloured bag of sherbet would suit a “bold & bright” theme, and a bag of lavender might fit nicely in a vintage themed wedding.

Something Useful

Lasting memories
It’s a great idea to give your guests something to keep that reminds them of your wedding day. Ornaments, candles, or personalised teaspoons are a few examples of wedding favours that will last longer than a year.

Practical Gift
A wedding favour with a practical use, such as a hanky, bottle opener, mini blackboard, or cork coaster, is a smart idea. Every time your guest uses the item, they will be reminded of your beautiful wedding day of which they were a part.

Pamper Me
This is something especially for the ladies. Home-made body scrub, a nail-polish, or a sample of hand cream could be the perfect, personalised wedding favour.

Tuning In
A cd for the road, or a compilation of you and your fiance’s favourite tunes, are two unique & thoughtful ideas.

Alive & Growing
A small potted succulent, or a packet of seeds are two popular wedding favour choices at the moment. The guests can take these home and watch them grow – a wonderful reminder of the love growing between the two of you!

For the Kids
If you’ve invited children to your wedding, chances are, at least one of them will get bored or fidgety. Here’s why the inclusion of some children’s wedding favours would be a great idea! Colouring-in sets, or chalk drawing boards are two neat ideas.

Something Fun

Accessorise Me
Get everyone to join in the fun by wearing something cute and personalised on the big day. Temporary tattoos of love hearts or cupid arrows could be worn, or perhaps a bow or flower for the guests to place in their hair or pin to their shirt.

Sprinkle & Throw
This is a fun one! Flower petals, sachets of glitter, or paper cones filled with rice could be passed out during the ceremony or during the reception for the guests to shower you with as you walk down the aisle or leave the reception venue.

Smelling Good
A scented favour is another popular, but timeless idea. This could be in the form of a scented candle, a potpourri bag, or perfumed wardrobe sachet.

A Little Different
If you’re a couple who don’t want a classic wedding, you might want a wedding favour that’s a little different. A margarita salt and cocktail rimming sugar kit could be just the thing!

Exciting Activities
If you want your guests to be involved, it’s a great idea to make a wedding favour that gets them up and doing something. Sparklers or bubbles, for instance, would be a fun activity for guests to participate in at some point during the reception (a great photo opportunity as well!).

Something Tasty

Sweet Treats
Everyone loves a wedding favour that they can eat! Biscotti, chocolates, or lollies are a few ideas. These could be kept for later, or eaten during the speeches – something to tide your guests over until dessert.

Yummy Beverages
A bottle of coca cola, a mini bottle of liqueur, or a bag of loose-leaf herbal tea make for unique and affordable favours. These could become first toast material during the reception or be taken home to enjoy later.

Popping Corn
This is the cutest wedding favour in our opinion! A little jar of corn kernels, or a cone filled with flavoured popcorn is a gorgeous idea. A few examples are shown in the image above.

DIY
Instead of including a pre-made edible treat, what about including ingredients for the guests to put together themselves? A container filled with a mocha mix for example, could be the perfect wedding favour.
